“Formalisation of informal sector activities in collection and transboundary shipment of wastes in and to CEE”
It is financed by the Central European Program and co financed by the EFRE and is a joint project between seven different partners from Austria, Hungary, Slowakei, Poland and Germany. The aim of the project is to formalize the mentioned informal sector within the official waste management and to structure and control its activities. The formalization strategies shall on the one hand support social disadvantaged people and offering them a future perspective and on the other hand support a conscious and responsible handling with waste in the sense of sustainability. The outcome of the project is, while gaining a win-win situation of all involved stakeholders, a transnational action and business plan. On its basis a pilot project is planned, which includes the implementation of a socio-economic enterprise supporting structured and controlled activities of the informal sector. The project started in January 2009 and has a running time of 48 month.
