Dr. Antoni Ginebreda
Dr. Antoni Ginebreda was born in 1953. Academic Degrees: Chemical Engineer by the Instituto Químico de Sarriá (Barcelona),1976, Graduate on Chemical Sciences by the University of Barcelona, 1977, PhD in Chemical Engineering by the Instituto Químico de Sarriá (Barcelona), 1980. Postdoctorates: Sloan Kettering Institute for Cancer Research (New York, USA), Instituto de Química Bio-orgánica, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) (Barcelona) and Instituto Químico de Sarriá (Barcelona). Postgraduate degrees: DD-IESE, Universidad de Navarra, 1993 Professional Career: (1986-1992) Prodesfarma S.A., Head of Chemical Research and Process Development, (since1992 till now) Agència Catalana de l’Aigua, Head of the Water Control Department.
Dr. Antonio Ginebreda has been involved in environmental water quality control for 12 years working for the Catalan Water Agency (CWA), combining his previous experience on academic and industrial research with practical knowledge of “real world” problems, approached from the public side. Although the CWA does not perform research by itself, it regularly contracts applied research programmes related to water contamination and quality aspects to academic institutions, such as the Instituto de Química Ambiental (CSIC), University of Barcelona, Autonomous University of Barcelona, Instituto de Ciencias del Mar (CSIC) etc., with Dr. Ginebreda being in charge of the co-ordination activities. He is in close contact with the research world, thus participating actively in several European funded projects, as well as other related activities such as project evaluations etc. Therefore, Dr. Ginebreda can provide a valuable contribution in order to bridge the gap between the pure academic research side and the end users.

Dr. Ester Van der Voet
Ester van der Voet obtained her MSc as a biologist in 1982 at Leiden University. Since 1984 she has been employed as a researcher at the Institute of Environmental Sciences. She has conducted research that for the most part can be placed under the heading of Industrial Ecology. Research areas are, among others: stock breeding and the ammonia problem, risk assessment, LCA, biodiversity policy, indicator development, material flow accounting, and especially SFA.. In this last field she obtained her PhD in 1996. She still is employed at the CML as an Associate Professor, and has initiated a Masters program in Industrial Ecology, together with the universities of Delft and Rotterdam. As a researcher, she is presently involved in research on sustainable resource use, with a focus on metals and bio-energy. She has developed a GHG calculator for bio-based electricity and heat for the Dutch government.
